Role Overview:

We are looking for a skilled Project Engineer to join our dynamic operations team and contribute to our continued growth. The role involves managing and supporting medium to large-scale fabrication and pipework installation projects, both in our state-of-the-art fabrication workshops and at client sites.

Candidate Profile
:

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in piping and fabrication systems, supported by several years of hands-on engineering experience. They should demonstrate strong teamwork skills and the ability to integrate seamlessly within our established team and organisational structure. Familiarity with current ISO, API, and EN standards is essential, and candidates with experience in distillation systems will be highly preferred.

A valid driving license is required. Tailored training on our specific systems and processes will be provided to support the candidate’s transition and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Fabrication Manager in delivering engineering excellence by coordinating and executing the engineering scope of assigned projects in line with schedules, procedures, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to oversee all aspects of piping and fabrication projects, from initial concept through to successful completion.
  • Assist with project inquiries, conduct site visits, attend client meetings, and contribute to pricing exercises for tender submissions.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and adherence to project goals.
  • Track and report project progress, proactively identifying and resolving any issues or delays to maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across all stages of the fabrication process.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on fabrication processes, materials, and methods to optimise project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to review, refine, and validate fabrication drawings, ensuring manufacturability and alignment with engineering specifications.
  • Evaluate design concepts, providing feedback on feasibility and recommending improvements or alternatives based on fabrication capabilities and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and organised records of project activities, including schedules, cost reports, material tracking, and change orders.
  • Prepare and present detailed progress reports to senior management, highlighting key milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure proper management and accessibility of all project-related documentation, including design files, technical drawings, and permits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process optimisation and cost-saving measures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) in fabrication project engineering or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or heavy industry environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes
  • Proficient in CAD software and project management tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, cost estimation, and resource management.
  • PMP Qualifications are desirable.

Work Location:

This position is based in our Bonnyrigg office, with travel to client sites across the UK as required.
